If you're craving the classic Kiwi takeaway experience, Kaiapoi Village Fish N Chips is a local gem you simply can’t miss. Nestled conveniently on Williams Street in the heart of Kaiapoi, this cozy fish and chips spot invites you in with its clean, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who genuinely engage with customers — as Rick Biddle’s review highlights, the young team is not only efficient but warm and open to sharing conversations about local culture and community events like Matariki.
The menu is a treasure trove for lovers of hearty, satisfying meals. Whether you fancy a traditional crumbed hoki or tarakihi fillet — both lauded by local enthusiasts like N.Z Maori for their moist, mouthwatering texture — or you want to try one of their inventive burgers, there’s something for every palate. From the smoky richness of the Bacon & Egg burger, the juicy delight of the Double Meat, to the fresh, wholesome flavors in the Vegetarian or Beetroot options, each item is crafted to deliver a burst of flavor with every bite.
The food arrives piping hot and perfectly cooked, the fish flaky and tender, the chips golden and crisp without an overdose of oil. The care in preparation is evident — the shop itself maintains impeccable cleanliness, which further assures a quality dining experience even in a takeaway format.
What truly makes Kaiapoi Village Fish N Chips stand out is the deep connection they foster with the community and the pride they take in their offerings. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, stopping here means savoring some of the best seafood this end of the South Island has to offer, coupled with service that makes you feel like part of the neighborhood.
For those seeking delicious takeaway with a side of genuine Kiwi hospitality, this spot should be top of your list. A meal here is not just food; it’s a welcoming experience that leaves a lasting impression and a craving to return.

By far the best fish n chips iv ever had. The burgers are amazing value too, the bacon and egg burger is really good. Nice chips that aren't soggy and the Cheese and onion fritters are the best. A+++

The crumbed blue cod is absolutely wonderful and the chips have to be the best we have had in Kaiapoi to date. Overall a great place to get a takeaway from. 4 Stars purely because they do not answer the phone at times so you cannot place a phone order for collection.
